Back with the acrylics, and this is a 5 x 5 study from some photographs I'd taken several years ago at the Wildlife Way Station. I've been working on the acrylic video, and so I've put up the oils for a few days. This little gem will appear in my ebay store in a few days, along with more of my art.
Now, I know you've asked me to share a photograph of the fellow who is working for me, and it is with a great deal of pleasure that I captured a photo of Alberto, standing in the studio about ready to head back to the computer. He is the most charming fellow, delightfully shy and yet not, and so highly paintable! However, he was difficult as a subject to photograph, as he is constantly busy. (I'll try to get a closer image when he isn't expecting it. Then you can tell him he's cute!)

"Rolling Along - Sea Otter" Cleaning the studio today, I came across some images I'd taken when I was up on the ocean in Monterey Bay. The sea otters are tame enough to get some good imagery. This fellow is floating on his back, washing his face, in the relatively clear waters of the Pacific. I like the design of this acrylic 5 x 7 piece, as the lights and colors work so well. Yes, the roofers are still here, but at least they finished the studio today.

"Buffalo Sunset" I so enjoy painting sunsets and sunrises. They signify the change of mode from action to rest, and from rest to action--a totally normal part of daily living. The clarity of the change of pace is such a pleasure to depict on canvas. This one is 8 x 10 original, in oils.
I need the rest right now, for I don't mind sharing with you that grief for my mother's passing hit me like a ton of bricks yesterday and today. I have been crying off and on all day, and finding memories and sadness at every moment, every turn in the house, and even in such mundane chores as laundry. I thought I'd dodged that grief bullet, since I'd been so "normal" for the past three weeks since she passed in April (it's now the beginning of May). Tain't so. I've been told that this would happen, just didn't think it would. But optimist that I am, I know this will pass as well.
So the sunset and the buffalo truly represent the passing of time, and I paint them with bittersweet joy. It feels so good to be back in my home studio, surrounded by my "friends" -- the other paintings I have done. I take great comfort from them. $200

"Little Visitor" I have been camping in places where these raccoons are so bold, they come out during daylight to raid your campsite. This fellow was so bold, I had to keep backing up to even get him in the picture!. Oil on board-backed canvas, 9 x 12 inches, available for US $275 from the artist. |

"Flamingo Mood" Elin was on location at the estate of a noted bird keeper in Palm Desert, and these rare flamingos were on their beautifully manicured property and gardens. Original oil on gallery-wrap canvas (no framing needed!), 24 x 24 inches, US $450 Email to inquire |

"Bear Commission" One of many Internet commissions that Elin has done for satisfied clients. This painting originated from a black and white photograph sent by the owner, who lives in Indiana. Elin was able to paint this full-color image for a very reasonable price. Original oil on board, 16 x 12 inches. Email Elin about a wildlife commission from your source material! Or go to her Commissions Page to find out more about this service. |

Itchy Scratchy Miniature Even smaller than regular work, this painting is about the size of a large postage stamp at one and a half inches by two inches. Yet all the detail of a 16 x 20 is contained in it. You'll enjoy clicking on the image and enlarging it to see its size related to a one cent piece. US $250 in a gorgeous frame, from the artist. |

"African Moments, Giraffes" The digital camera cannot convey the sunlight intensity of this five foot tall painting. It just isn't rich enough. The light of the sunset is just so perfectly painted, I just cannot believe I did it! But, I know I'll have to let go of the good ones... It is on display through November 18, 2007, at the Colony Theater in Burbank. Original oil, 60 x 48 inches. Inquiries? |

"Watchful (Buffalo)" A very nice study of two buffalo, in subtle and greyed blue and orange earth tones. On gallery-wrap canvas, this 12 x 12 original oil needs no framing, as the painting continues around the sides. US $ 300 from the artist. |
 |
"Moonlight Movement, Elephants" Another big painting, this one is 30 x 40 inches, showing an idea that has been in Elin's head for a while--not easily captured from life. On the move, the elephant mom and baby are headed for the water. Elephants travel day and night to get to their watering holes. Original oil on gallery wrap canvas, is on display through November 18, 2007, at the Colony Theater in Burbank. |
 |
"Before the Hunt, Cheetahs" This painting is HUGE, measuring four by five feet! Elin loves to do these large pieces of wildlife, especially since each one is a portrait of some of the wildlife at the Living Desert Museum in Palm Desert, California! Giraffes, Zebras, and now Cheetahs, here is the third painting in the Living Desert Series. Original oil on gallery wrap canvas, 48 x 60 inches is on display through November 18, 2007, at the Colony Theater in Burbank. |
 |
"Fast Cat #1" Elin was on a marathon roll with this painting, a 30 x 40 canvas, completed at the La Quinta Desert Plein Air! That's the challenge of plein air painting, and Elin had a double challenge to get the likeness of these "fast cats" every time they would show themselves. There were two in the enclosure, and at first this one was laying on the sunny slope, but then both started pacing around the pen. Original acrylic on gallery-wrap canvas (no frame needed), is on display through November 18, 2007, at the Colony Theater in Burbank. |

"Cougar, Near Idyllwild" This 12 x 9 inch canvas was done as a color study for a larger work that never materialized. The expression on the cougar is wonderful though. Oil, US $ 200 Email to purchase or inquire |
 |
"Highway 74 Bighorn" On the day before the official start of the La Quinta Desert Plein Air event, Elin and her good friend Gwen went up Highway 74 in the late afternoon and did a little on location work. Here's Elin's result, an 8 x 10 oil on canvas. That sheep took a bit of imagineering though. US $350 Contact the artist. |

"Moo-sying Along" Many years ago Elin had this Guersey and Brahma cross heifer. Since it had four legs, Elin broke it to ride. Only problem was, "steering" was non-existent! Original oil on canvas, 8 x 10 inches unframed. Buy with your credit card US $ 400 Purchase from the artist |
